This print was based on the painting Landscape at Twilight. Van Gogh painted this twilight landscape in the fields near Auvers, with a view of the local castle. He painted the pear trees in the foreground using a flurry of black brushstrokes, thereby intensifying the contrast between the dark trees and the luminous yellow sky. Because of its wide format, the painting resembles a panorama. It is one metre wide and 50 centimetres high. From June 1890 onwards, Van Gogh made a total of thirteen works with these dimensions. All but one are landscapes. He cut the canvases himself from a large roll.Beddinghouse is committed to designing beautiful collections with respect for people and the planet.
